Opening Day

It's opening day for the MLB which means baseball games all day. I try to follow as much as I can and my two favorite teams are the Reds and Red Sox. I've always been a Reds fan since I was small growing up just an hour outside of Cincinnati. I grew up listening to my dad talk about the days of old with players like Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, and Ken Griffey [Sr.]. I grew up with other players though ranging from Pokey Reese to Adam Dunn to Ken Griffey [Jr.] and stars now like Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips. I also like the Red Sox and of course hate the Yankees. This season should be a good one with the Red Sox trying to overcome the Yankees as the Yankees come off a championship season. The Reds will have a good year if they can keep within 5 games of .500 this year.

Super Bowl

The Super Bowl this year took place in Miami. The matchup was a great one, featuring my favorite Indianapolis Colts and the true underdog of the NFL, the New Orleans Saints. The game started great for the Colts jumping out to a 10-0 lead after a Matt Stover field goal and Manning to Garcon touchdown. The Colts could not hold on however after the Saints came back to head into the halftime 10-6. Saints coach Sean Payton pulled out all of the tricks and started the half with an onside kick recovery and it was all downhill for the Colts from there. Colts would score one more touchdown but the Saints were too much to handle. The true game changer happened when former Hoosier Tracy Porter intercepted a Manning pass to return it for a touchdown. All though the Colts lost I can't think of another team I would rather they loose to. The Saints have been around longer than my parents and had never even been to a Super Bowl. They deserved a Super Bowl win, however I wish they would have one another team. So congrats to Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and the rest of the New Orleans Saints.

Super Bowl Bound

The NFL playoffs are coming to an end with the Super Bowl now only two weeks away and both contenders have been announced. The Indianapolis Colts, my favorite team, and the New Orleans Saints, for the first time in the franchise’s forty year existence will meet in Miami, Florida for Super Bowl XLIV. This match up has more of a story line than just the winningest dynasty of all time against the Super Bowl virgin. Peyton Manning is the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts and has been poised as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and his father Archie Manning lead the New Orleans Saints to many wins as quarterback when Peyton was a kid. Peyton grew up with the Saints and they are his hometown team, now he returns to the place of his first and so far only Super Bowl win to face the team he cheered on as a child. Miami itself is also a historic place when it comes to Colts history. This will be the Colts fourth Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, twice as the Baltimore Colts and twice as the Indianapolis Colts, all taking place in Miami. So this years Super Bowl seems to be building up to what is hopefully is an exciting Super Bowl matchup.
